“Dilaudid” is a new track from Mirrored, an trio formed in southern California during the summer of 2018. They’re a new act, though showing aesthetic promise. The track’s rhythm leads with a post-punk-like fervor, the enjoyably static percussion/bass accompanying the subsequent gliding guitar with ease. Murmured vocals emerge around 00:52 with subtle effectiveness, the approach reminding me fondly of The Stills. Grunge-y vocals and the post-punk rhythm combines for a nice sound, while the guitar exudes an almost Afro-pop feel in the vein of Vampire Weekend at points. Essentially, I’m hearing a wide variety of rock-leaning styles, all while the track remains enjoyably cohesive.
