“Remarkable” is a great entry point when digging into cityGirl’s material. The solo artist crafts an entrancing sound from his apartment, “with a couple of keyboards and some good software.” The bedroom-based lo-fi approach doesn’t sacrifice for melody and atmosphere, though. “Remarkable” stretches out with hypnotic allure from the beginning, with a lush bass line complementing similarly spaced-out vocals. Synth work just past the one-minute mark shifts the tide a bit, leading nicely into a summer-y guitar twang shortly thereafter. The second half features a combination of this guitar-based loop and pulsating synths, concluding in enjoyable form.
