“Howling Fantods” is a highlight from Caveat Empire’s newly released third album, Glass Jar Specimens. The Chicago-based act showcase “a manipulation of many genres with, its core embedded in rock.” Melodic intensity is apparent on “Howling Fantods”, growing from an eerie guitar arpeggio into a rhythmically dense showing with a prog-rock allure. There’s a dark aesthetic and hectic interplay that’s reminiscent of a cross between Pink Floyd and early Mars Volta. For fans of more no-frills rock with prog-laden intensity and escalating vocal ferocity, “Howling Fantods” should do the trick.
