Disaster Relief are a jazz project that feature an all-star lineup of jazz musicians from Ann Arbor and Detroit. Their brass-y, funky arrangements provide a pick-me-up that aids in accommodating a needed escape from today’s many forms of chaos. The instrumental jazz-funk project impresses with a four-piece horn section, which helps tackle everything from Memphis style soul to traditional funk. The project’s self-titled debut was released on May 15th, and can be streamed in full below. “Dorian DeLorian” – with its excellent infusion of soulful brass, guitar, and organ – makes for a nice introductory start to the band’s sound, which is rousing and actively engaging.
