“Love Lately” is a catchy new single from The Regency, a production collective headed by legendary indie producer Mike Baker. The track builds from a guitar-driven initial beat to more dance-laden routes, from the clap-forward percussion to the gargling synth bass and twinkling keys. The initial showing of rock allows for an eclectic stylistic expansion, pulled off with precision. Considering that Baker and others in the collective have ample experience in a variety of styles producing, ranging alternative rock to dance, the track provides a great audible example of their range. “The Magic of music is that you don’t have to tell the story as it actually happens”, Baker explains. “It can be coated, so that it means something to you, but that meaning can be different to the listener. There’s this power in it.”
