Benjamin Dean Wilson wrote, produced, and performed alone throughout new album The Smartest Person in the Room, apart from fiddle contributions on the self-titled track from Maria Grigoryeva. It’s quite an impressive feat considering the liveliness evident in the songwriting and performance, evident from the opening, self-titled track in its likeness to Jonathan Richman, Harry Chapin, Randy Newman, and other acts that make successful lyricism and melodic pairings feel like an effortless, stream-of-conscious affair. The Tulsa-based singer/songwriter showcases plenty of unique charm and engaging songwriting throughout the six tracks on The Smartest Person in the Room, streaming in full below:
