Released in the past week, “Stay” is a hook-y and upbeat new single from Vaarwell, meshing trickling dream-pop guitars with melodic vocals and pulsating synth work. The Lisbon-based act mixes their appreciation for dream-pop, shoegaze, and pop on “Stay”, which elevates nicely during the panting chorus as Margarida Falcão’s vocals alternate between slyness and perky effervescence. This is an immediately accessible and melodically appetizing effort from the act, who released the album HOMEBOUND 456 last year. If “Stay” is indication of what’s next, 2018 could be a big one for Vaarwell.
