Based out of Providence, RI, Raven King craft a sound that takes elements of art-rock and grunge, exemplified on the track “Drool”. The verses feature a guitar crawl at a hazy pace, with fairly lackadaisical vocals building to a chorus with various vocal layers and added guitar distortion. The guitar tones in the chorus remind a bit of Blur’s earlier work, while the off-kilter vocal approach shows fun enthusiasm with a reverence for lo-fi power-pop. The track comes courtesy of Raven King’s self-titled album, which released on December 28th. Stream the album in full below:
