FETES – the project of Sydney singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Cristian Campano – impresses on new single “Waiting For You” with a sound that soars. The track’s primary hook and initial verses fondly resemble Smith Westerns’ shaggy rock tendencies, big on melody and size. “Waiting For You” also shows some excellent string-laden work, lifting the stylistic arsenal well above the standard rock-leaning fare and into chamber-pop territory, though with an anthemic appeal. “Waiting For You” is a moving, ardently exciting effort from Campano.
