London trio Hayéli impress on new EP Faraway, meshing ethereal vocals with synth flourishes and the occasional touch of strings. Citing influences like SBTRKT, Bonobo, Erykah Badu and Alice Coltrane, Hayéli also remind fondly of Little Dragon’s aesthetic. My favorite of the four tracks is “Wysteria”, book-ended by touching strings and featuring a delightful twinkle of minimalist synths. The vocals are enthralling throughout, helping lead an understated though effective melody, in a comparably developmental vein to The xx. This trio show heaps of ability on these four tracks:
