Toronto electro-pop artist Sereda has already scaled to the tops of Billboard charts, hitting #1 in France with her single “Heartbeat”, though I’m quite privy to new single “I Got You” — a wonderfully atmospheric, nocturnal electro-pop success that’s perfect for winter’s creeping presence. Sereda’s captivating vocal work – propelled by past efforts in a gospel choir and the Toronto Youth Mendelssohn Choir – finds the perfect balance between verse-based nonchalance and the yearning “baby, I got you,” hook. One may expect a Billboard-topping artist to stay clear of the more left-field soundscapes, though “I Got You” shows an artist still very interested in succeeding outside the conventional radio-pop spectrum.
