“I Always Wanted You,” the latest track from Miles Dismond, continues his lush and engrossing blend of jazz, psych, and soul. It’s another impressive release from the Berkeley, California-based artist, who previously impressed with “She Doesn’t Care At All” in May and “All to Myself” in September. Centered around a pulsating, hypnotic “see you everyday” chorus, the verses ride on a trippy shuffle, like an especially chilled-out Steely Dan that just got into chillwave. “I always wanted you,” he sings just past the two-minute mark, setting up for a suavely intoxicating conclusion to this captivating effort. Yearning, as cool as possible.
