NYC-based indie-rocker Lukka is a multi-instrumentalist that melds aspects of psych-rock, alternative, and grunge in a way that captivates, especially on new track “Tin Can”. A self-taught guitarist from age 15 and a student of classical piano before that, Lukka navigates the track with nonchalant vocals, assuming an enjoyably lethargic tone upon the chorus’ entry point. Understated guitar jangles adorn the verses, with a phaser-friendly psychedelic presence in the brief though soaring chorus. A more rock-ready Cat Power comes to mind as a point of comparison. “Tin Can” is a solid release from an act who is certainly ascending.
