Ahead of a new EP releasing next year, The Kickdrums just released the track “Love Is Fine”, a successful effort that straddles between Beck-like pop idiosyncrasies in the verses and a gentle, soaring chorus with melodic charisma. The project is the alias of producer/singer Alex Fitts, raised in Cleveland and presently living in Brooklyn. The track quickly shows Fitts’ notable melodic charm, especially around 01:30 as the track weaves in backing vocals and shimmering key/synth work, favorably akin to Hot Chip. His first Soundcloud release in three years, “Love Is Fine” is a superb effort that makes me highly anticipate the forthcoming EP.
