The Remarks are a talented quartet from Boone, North Carolina producing a dreamy vein of indie-rock that draws from psychedelia, power-pop, and folk influences, with a particular admiration for ’60s era songwriting. The act, comprised of roommates turned bandmates, soars with catchy and memorable melodies throughout their new album If Better Read in Photographs (streaming in full below), starting immediately with the opening track “Falter”. With youthful exuberance in the lyrics depicting falling head over heels, the suave vocals flow over melodic guitar twangs, leading into a chorus dripping with power-pop sentiment — “if I fall.” It’s an excellent cut from an excellent album.
