Canadian act Lunar Lander Dance Commander produce a passionate vein of rock that incorporates a degree of synth-driven charm, akin to Metric. Their debut EP, Liquid Smooth, dropped this past June and features the track “We Won’t Go”. The emotive vocals of Stephanie Wilkinson show soul and charm, showing hints of melodic expansion during the verses though really letting it loose during the hook, when she proclaims “don’t you know, we won’t go!” Followed by an infusion of both synths and guitars, emphasizing the band’s eclectic grasp, it’s difficult to not be drawn in by Wilkinson’s passionate vocal presence and the group’s steady navigation of rock and synth-oriented approaches.
