J. F. July is a musician/producer from Manchester, who released his new single “GRAINS” with a DIY mentality; it’s self-recorded, self-produced, and self-released, with all instruments, vocals, and productions coming via J. F. July, whose sound was inspired “by both the unchartered landscapes of North-Western England, and the bustle of East-London.” The song develops gradually, with a minimal percussive pitter-patter showing around the one-minute mark in accompaniment with the warm piano. After the second mark, the percussion picks up a more anthemic push, helping align with a space-y flickering synth and comforting vocal presence. The track provides an atmospheric build-up that certainly pays off.
