Male/female vocal duets don’t always work in the indie-rock/pop sphere, though “Two Hearts (Two Peninsulas)” – the new track from Michigan husband-wife duo Brandon and Bethany Foote – succeeds on this front. Gentle organs establish a lush first 01:30, with the guitar twangs at 01:32 making for a nice bridge that leads into the “two hearts, two peninsulas” hook. This is an enjoyable listen that reminds me of a hybrid of Camera Obscura, The Magic Numbers, and Wilco. Look out for their new album, Fair Mitten (New Songs of the Historic Great Lakes Basin), on September 22nd, via Earthwork Music.
