Cosmic Roots Collective – “Big Hand”

/

Orlando, FL-based psych-rock trio Cosmic Roots Collective have been churning out a captivating blend of psych and prog-rock since 2013, when vocalist/guitarist Wheeler Newman, bassist Ronnie Brannan, and drummer Paul Mauceri came together. Their latest album, Virtues, does well in translating their memorable live presence into the studio. One of its highlights, “Big Hand”, features a bluesy guitar slab over a bouncy rhythm guitar and tame vocals. This launches off around 00:43, when psych-friendly guitar tones and a more charismatic vocal tone begin to take hold. The style takes an accessible, familiar form of blues-tinged rock and injects some psych-friendly charisma to the fold, resulting in a pleasant track with personality.
