“Maya” provides an excellent indication of the gripping psych-rock sound throughout Them Jones’ new album Grow, streaming in full below. The Philly group impressed prior with full-length A Mountain of Nonsense last year, particularly on highlight “These Canyons” with its sitar-y movements and slow-moving acoustics. Atmosphere and hypnotic psych-laden charm have never been an issue for Them Jones, who again present their strengths throughout this release. “Maya” , with its swirling guitars and bouncy bass line accompanying the nonchalant vocals, reminds a bit aesthetically of Caribou’s Andorra. It’s an excellent, psych-packed sound that should appeal strongly to anyone with any semblance of interest in psych-rock.
