Melbourne rockers Shorts effectively channel ’90s alt-rock nostalgia on their new track “Sun Dogs”, the second single off their upcoming EP Something Else. Heavy waves of guitar distortion and melodic vocal nonchalance, in the vein of Dinosaur Jr, lead a fun and summer-y sound that incorporates elements of grunge, alternative, and indie-rock — with the band’s description “think Dinosaur Jr meets Wavves” being an accurate one indeed. The final 1/4 of the track – with its swelling guitar distortion and clamoring percussion – provides an energetic, satisfying conclusion to this memorable effort.
