Los Angeles-based act autoclub seems bound to blow up, if new single “Cat” is any indication. With a sound featuring “melodic psych-disco sounds, and catchy fresh dance pop grooves featuring trippy bass lines”, the track is an infectious groover throughout. Produced by Eliot James (Two Door Cinema Club, Bloc Party, Coasts, Kaiser Chiefs, etc.), “Cat” aesthetically resembles a less nocturnal vein of Neon Indian at points, though autoclub’s uniquely excitable vocal edge and alternation between hazy, subdued bridges (like at the one-minute mark) and high-energy bursts of catchiness (01:33) produce a thoroughly consuming, one-of-a-kind result. This is a project I’m definitely excited about.
