Trickling and distorted guitar combine in the beginning of “Crystal Heart” for an immediately engaging feel, with the climactic percussion leading to a spacious hook that features the vocals of Talon Majors, the project’s lead. Her vocal approach has a bluesy sophistication that combines with a rock-friendly edge, showcased here and throughout her new album Crystal Heart, released in March. The contrast between a jagged guitar melody and crunching distortion is once again featured in the chorus, though with a nice melodic shift. It’s a well-written effort, for sure.
