Vansire’s new single, “Brown Study”, touts a warm and twinkling feel — strongly reminiscent of The Radio Dept’s lush aesthetic. The track features Josh Augustin on vocals, synth, and drums; Sam Winemiller on guitar, synth, and bass; and Isaac Winemiller on bass. Per the Minnesota-based group, “‘Brown study’ is an archaic term that refers to the condition of being so lost in solitary thought as to be unaware of one’s surroundings: abstraction, daydreaming.” The sound here resembles a daydream, the warm production and assortment of gentle percussion, bass, synths, and guitar running alongside the laid-back vocals for a melodically pleasing result, somewhere between The Radio Dept’s tranquility and Beach House’s hypnotic and bouncy dream-pop.
