Drohves was formed last year as a side project by Soular Order, the alias of Manchester-based musician and producer Jon Maynard. The project’s new EP, Secondstep, is a beautifully immersive thing of beauty within the atmospheric, downtempo approach. Four tracks span across the cohesive 11:50, ranging from the upbeat flutter of the glistening opener “Pillbox” to the more nocturnal, subdued nature of “Stillwithu” and “Away From Here”. The EP’s 12 minutes fly by, serving as a very serene listen within a style that often opts for the darker, murkier route. There’s a lot of tranquil audible beauty here to enjoy.
