Luke Forest Hartle is a multi-instrumentalist and audio engineer, who creates music under the name iamforest. The Vancouver native has dabbled in a variety of sounds and arsenals, from the stripped-down acoustics of the Meadows EP to the lo-fi electronic grooves of his iamforest LP. At this point, he seems fully immersed in electronica, particularly the warm and melodic sort with developing beats and rhythms that is exceedingly easy to listen to — either highly engaged or in the background. New track “ATOMS” is the leading single from his forthcoming Bridges EP, out this summer. It’s an excellent demonstration of Hartle’s multiple strengths, especially on the production front. This is a rich, dynamic effort with glistening synths, active rhythms, and soaring vocal melodies that project a psychedelic, hazy charm in addition to the sleek synth-focused arrangements. Immaculately produced and well-written, it suggests that his forthcoming EP will be something special.
