He Is Me is the collaborative project of Portland, OR-based songwriter/musician/producer Casey Braunger and Calgary, AB based songwriter/vocalist Steve Moore. They first collaborated on a 2001 track called “Silencer”, and are still at it today, recently as Casey contacted Steve last year for guest vocals on a new track. They enjoyed the collaborative reunion so much they formed a new project, He Is Me. It explores industrial rock and metal, with an emphasis on atmospheric ambiance as well. New track “Cleansing”, references “the need for deep change within us and, by extension, within our societies. It is a call to action and a song of the times.” Creeping verses, with menacing vocals repeating various aspects that need a fire, lead into ample distortion and tinges of metal just prior to the one-minute mark. The constant alternation between raucous, metal-geared chorus and more ambient, restrained verses makes for a striking contrasting effect. Intensity is quite apparent on this effort.
