Brother/sister duo Benjamin and Samantha Hope comprise Glider Pilots, based in Far North Queensland. These talented Aussies are highly capable of sweeping soundscapes, such as on the beautifully caressing “Expose to Weather”, where Samantha projects her angelic vocals over the story “of the busy, messy lives we live and taking the time to explore yourself and the things you want to do and be.” Inspired by music from the late ’70s they grew up on, their sound is a relaxing and accessible vein of rock/pop led by Benjamin’s tranquil guitar work and Samantha’s synth touches. Emergence of the guitar twang at 02:25 projects a jangle that puts them firmly in indie-rock territory, though there’s also a bluesy tinge of folk going in the general vocal approach. Either way, this is a fully engrossing sound that has me captivated by this talented sibling duo.
