Coming out of Milan, Obree is an act specializing in synth-infused shoegaze, with a melancholic touch reminding of influences like Washed Out and Beach House. Formed by Sara Poma and Fabrizio De Felice, the project shows its strengths on new track “Before”. Warbled synths lead a pulsating, sad yet infectious melody to kick things off, with soaring and reverbed vocals leading into a twangy guitar accompaniment around the one-minute mark, where the vocals and instrumentation fall into a caressing dream-like state. The mellow guitar work around 01:20 plays particularly well, with the simple yet effective keys in the background serving a great purpose. This is a gripping track through and through from this rising Milan-based act.
