Max Fite’s new track “Devil In Me” balances with his lightly soaring vocals against a muscle-y alt-rock backdrop, with lyrics lingering from influential upbringing to contemplating post-life legacy. The Los Angeles-based group’s new album, Shake It On Down, acts “as a road map life’s struggles and successes,” also showing the art coming out of triumph and loss — making this track’s lyrical focus an apt one as an album preview. The group came together in 2015 and released the album in August. “Can you see the devil in me, living life so cynically?” frontman Max Fitelson asks during the central hook, its emotional hook clawing at the listener.
