Tropic Harbour made an impressive introduction to the world with “Glowing Eyes” about two months ago, showcasing a sound that resembled Johnny Marr playing guitar on a Wild Nothing track. It was noted then that Tropic Harbour – who has already opened for the likes of Jessy Lanza, Homeshake and Will Butler – has an LP coming out this fall, entitled Glowing Eyes and out October 21st. Tropic Harbour produces aptly autumnal sounds, with a warm jangle and a fleeting melancholy, so it’s a nice date for the project’s debut. “Now I See” serves as another preview of that release, effervescent guitar jangles and wistful synth pads overlapping subdued vocals. Later highlights include an excellent instrumental section where melodic synths and twangy guitars collide with a brilliant glow. A yearning recap of the central hook caps off this gem from Tropic Harbour, making him a commanding 2-for-2 so far.
