“Thinking Bout You” is an original track from Nick de la Hoyde — not the millionth cover of the Frank Ocean track of the same name. The young Australian-based act – who is currently in Barcelona pursuing a football career – impressed last month with “Never Gonna Beg For It”, a buzzily infectious and atmospheric synth-pop gem delightfully remixed by Kids On Bridges), and with “Thinking Bout You” he shows an even sleeker and infectious take. The beginning evolves from bass-y warbles and vocal cues into an effervescent hook ripe with multiple vocal layers and stuttering synth stabs. The hook works nicely, integral for a track in this stylistic vein, and de la Hoyde once again shows pop chops and charisma well beyond his years.
