Under the moniker Lilyer, Marte Solbakken crafts atmospherically engaging pop with a deep emotional impact, as heard on new track “I Was On Your Side”. Solbakken initially picked up music at an early age, but quit when her family fell apart. Ending up in foster care as a teenager, it wasn’t until over a decade later that she picked up a guitar and picked up songwriting again. Today, she is rising quickly with excellent work under her Lilyer moniker, with the aid of producer Sune Rose Wagner (The Raveonettes, Dum Dum Girls).”I wrote the song during a time when I was questioning a lot of things I used to believe in,” she explains of “I Was On Your Side”. “It’s about feeling stuck between what once was and what is, when you don’t even feel any loyalty towards the person you’d once do anything for.” With ’80s-tinged warming synth pads and soft trickling bass accompanying her angelic vocals, the track is easy to get swept away by.
