With quaint guitar twangs and a comforting vocal tone that reminds relatively of My Morning Jacket’s Jim James’ more subdued efforts, Dashel Hammerstein showcases a warmly receptive sound on new track “I Should Know Better By Now”, off his new full-length. The 27-year-old Brooklyn-based artist serves as “carpenter-by-day, song-writer by night, jingle-writer/film scoring by mid-morning”, and was featured three years ago with his solid track “Down Down Boy“. This new effort is centered around a nice hook – where Hammerstein admits he “should know better by now” – that’s preceded by a jumpy bridge and followed by a twinkling array of keys, at least around the two-minute mark. He’ll be announcing show dates in the NYC area shortly.
