“New Light” is the first single off Brain Tan’s upcoming EP, out in September. Sonorous vocals, a galloping funk-bass, and wistful effervescent synths align with shimmering guitars to result in a freshly promising sound, one that sounds somewhat like a more upbeat Wild Nothing. The “can I see you in a new light?” hook works very well, the aforementioned musical elements combining with a vocal delivery that’s easy to get stuck in your head. This project from New York-based Rob Arbelo shows serious potential.
