Night Drifting is the solo project of Amit Pandey, who pursues a mood-driven sound without any sort of stylistic barrier. The slow-crawling “Just Because” has an understated beauty, especially when the effervescent hook around the one-minute mark shows itself, with gentle keys glistening over Pandey’s serene voice. This song is my attempt to cope with things that I have no control over – things other people don’t necessarily see or see me struggle with,” he explains. The minimalist verses provide for a striking contrast for the expanding choruses, where Pandey shows himself as very capable of beautiful development melodic expansion, with a Beck sort-of suaveness. This track rides on an enjoyably lush mood, just as intended.
