“Holy” begins like a fairly conventional ballad, with tender vocals glistening alongside gentle tugging strings and finger-clicks. The initial minimalism prompts the punchy percussive kick-in around the 50-second mark to resonate wonderfully, with the anthemic launch finding a perfect balance between the falsetto-led theatrics and funk/soul-laden stylistic fervor. The strings are great throughout, and especially as they expand nicely just before the three-minute mark, when a choir of various vocals provide a stirring backbone The strings range from gentle weeping to more fast-paced intensity, especially when the percussive stomp returns around 03:29. It’s an enthralling track start to finish from the LA collective B00ty, who make a vein of electronic soul with a richly reverberating sound.
