“Scandinavian Summer” was written by Scandinavian duo My Empire Of Sound in the Swedish highlands; the natural beauty of that setting has seeped into their music as well. Delicate pianos and vocals from frontwoman Sidsel Marie Soholm unfold into an expansive soundscape that captures the serenity and beauty of the summer season. The massive drums recall the more epic fare from Of Monsters And Men (another Scandinavian band, no less). And like that there’s an inherent poppiness to My Empire Of Sound that draws the listener back for repeated listens. Even if you’ve never experienced a summer in Scandinavia yourself, this band is intent on transporting you there audibly, especially with its soaring, carefree and love-filled chorus.

Yeah, this song does have a nice Of Monsters and Men feel to it. Do like the soaring vocals has me dreaming of it being summertime.
