“Karma” is a haunting and infectious success from St. Louis-based Brandyn Burnette, who guides his powerful and ethereal vocal presence throughout lush guitar lines and bursts of late-night saxophone, courtesy of Emily Anne. About the track and sax usage, Burnette says: “The song is about the morality of our decisions and their effect on those we love. One of my favorite parts about this record was recording alto sax with a saxophonist by the name of Emily Anne.” Closing with wonderful arpeggio-led bliss featuring climactic percussion and whirring instrumentation, “Karma” finishes as it is throughout – entirely convincing and stimulating. Part accessible pop and part late-night idiosyncratic indie theatrics, Brandyn Burnette’s sound packs ton of potential.
