Rj Lim is a LA-based electronic artist whose new album Cotton features an eclectic array of styles presented with a lush, electronic-minded allure. Highlight cut “Kissing Faded”, which features Michigan-based multi-instrumentalist Timid Soul, works from sticky-sweet angelic synth-pop with fluttering arpeggios and spastic key bursts into a live guitar interlude mid-way, which Lim aptly calls “a wonderful twee-pop moment.” The variety of hooks – like the halted “bounce” precursor – in addition to moments like the ethereal guitar show Lim as a savvy electronic producer/songwriter who can separate from the hordes of electro-pop attempts with his diverse stylistic grasp.
