“The Breather” features Sierra Leone-based hip-hop artist Sheik aka SK touting his flow over an evolving psychedelic beat, showing bursts of stylistic ingenuity throughout. The inclusion of brassy-like synths around 01:15 injects some lively nostalgia into the fold, as does the subsequently repeating female “oh yeah” vocal sample. The two-minute mark shows a completely different feel, with a more bass-driven energy – and some tropical charisma reminiscent of Balearic beat. A hybrid of the previous two sections represents the finale, an utterly infectious accomplishment that presents a fitting finale to this track’s superb production, which showcases an astute grasp of various stylistic implementations as well as SK’s effective flow.
