Based out of Rio de Janeiro, producer and multi-instrumentalist Pedro Meirelles’ projects intense beauty throughout his track “Nostalgia”. The vibrant composition, led by breathless keys and string swipes, is made even more affecting by a well-executed video that reflects the track’s namesake beautifully; an old man’s personal journey through his own memories proves to be occasionally overwhelming, but pure and beautiful nonetheless — just like this exceptional track. Meirelles shows incredible instrumental and emotional grasp throughout this moving piece.
Throughout time, while developing his hybrid alternation of dissonant minimalism and heavily percussive orchestrations, Meirelles began building an extensive instrumental solo catalogue. One result of that, “Nostalgia”, is the opening track of Pedro Meirelles’s 2012 EP Immersi (remastered and put back in stores late 2014) and its music video, shot on January 2015 at the city of Warsaw, Poland, was directed by Lukasz Pytlik and portrays the emblematic train journey of an elderly man overwhelmed by memories through the lens of his old 8mm camera.
