Toronto-based Stevie Bucks is a 21-year-old hip-hop artist with a promising sound that touts an old-school flair, as evidenced on the personal “A Little Bit of Peace”. Opting for a sincere delivery over the linear focus of club-focused rappers, Stevie Bucks takes a more Kendrick Lamar route in a poetic-driven, autobiographical of sorts lyrical emphasis. “All I want is money and a little bit of peace,” is reminded each chorus over a subtle key adornment and brassy old-school sample, while the verses touch on everything from school experiences and political indifference to existentialism and hedonism. It’s clear from both his delivery and lyrical topics that Stevie Bucks is a young rapper, but he is undoubtedly on the rise and equipped with a engaging spitfire delivery and admiration for old-school sampling.
