Swedish folk artist RY X released his debut EP, Berlin, back in August, but the release’s gorgeously serene offerings tend to sound even better in the winter. One of Berlin‘s standout efforts, “Vampires” is a beautifully composed dark folk ode. The layers of acoustic finger-picking, laid-back drumming, and sincerely stunning vocals give this song a life of its own, with its various melodic fixtures breathing life into a clockwork of instrumental expansion. RY X is recommended for fans of Bon Iver, The Antlers, and Wild Beasts. I don’t know about you, but I can’t wait to hear what RY X will offer us with a full-length release. Hopefully listeners will get one later this year.
