Humen is the nostalgia-loving project of Joshua John Harris, who incorporates his love for ’70s funk and disco with aspects of modern dance and electronica. “Last of the Light” starts with a longing synth pad, soon perked up by a funk guitar line and whirring synth siren that are merely build-ups to the robotic payoff. The track takes a building block approach and never gravitates from the initial backbone, so predictability may be issue for some. Still, “Last of the Light” has an alluring sound that would serve nicely as preparation to an epic night out.
