Grizzly Bear unveiled a second track off their upcoming album Shields, out September 18th via Warp. “Yet Again” finds Ed Droste returning with his silky-smooth vocals, with the dash of eternal melancholy that makes his croon so recognizable. The track is a highly developmental one for Grizzly Bear, who are generally known among casual fans for concise triumphs like “Two Weeks” and “Knife”. It may take a listen or two to sink in, but once it does the edgy guitar interplay and distorted minute-long conclusion appear as surefire triumphs. That’s not to say it isn’t without its striking and accessible hooks; the transition at 01:40 to a bouncy key backing and melodic delivery, complemented by a variety of slick guitar effects, is beautiful. The whole track is great. Shields is surely one of the most anticipated albums this year for many, and this does nothing to change that.
They revealed another album track, “Sleeping Ute“, in June.
