Icelandic post-rockers Sigur Rós announced their first live show as a group since 2008. They will headline Bestival on the Isle of Wight in the UK, which takes place from September 6th to 9th. Other big names appearing at the festival include The xx, Justice, and Spiritualized. And as their web site indicates, Sigur Rós will be announcing more dates soon.
As reported in November, Sigur Rós will also release a new album in the spring, their first since 2008?s Með suð í eyrum við spilum endalaust. In an interview with The Wall Street Journal, the Icelandic group offered some descriptive words of the currently untitled release: “floaty and minimal”, “introverted”, and “ambient”, while comparing it to “a slow takeoff toward something.”
