MP3: Arctic Monkeys – R U Mine?Arctic Monkeys delivered a crunchy and aggressive new track this morning, “R U Mine?”, with an accompanying video. Frontman Alex Turner told The Sun last August that the Arctic Monkeys were taking a break from recording and performing until 2013. However, just last week on Jo Whiley he hinted at today’s release of “R U Mine?”, and said the band plans to return to the studio in the summer, available via YouTube and MP3s. He also indicated they plan to explore a “dirtier” and “darker” sound than Suck It and See, their fourth and most recent studio album. Expect a new album in late 2012 or early 2013.

As far as the new track goes, it’s a blast. The sound is slightly more grimy and raucous, but with a polish that nearly borders on the blues-rock of The Black Keys, or at least their most roaring tracks. An interesting direction for the Arctic Monkeys, for sure
