As any avid fan of The Doors knows, Rhino is reissuing The Doors’ classic album L.A. Woman to mark its 40th anniversary on January 24th (23rd in the UK). It will be released as a two-disc reissue with alternate takes on many tracks, including “Riders on the Storm”, “Love Her Madly”, and “L.A. Woman”.
But perhaps the most exciting news is the unveiling of a never-before released Doors track by the name of “She Smells So Nice”. Producer Bruce Botnick discovered the track on an old session tape while working on the reissue. “She Smells So Nice” is definitely one of the band’s bluesier efforts, recalling the likes of Charles Brown more than the organ-led psychedelic-rock they’re known best for. There are only 30-second snippets available for streaming at the moment, but the whole thing sounds great. Listen to it here to tide you over.
