Franz Ferdinand will be returning to the world of music in 2012, according to guitarist Nick McCarthy. The Scottish band has been quiet since the release of their last album, Tonight: Franz Ferdinand, in 2009.
McCarthy spoke to Daily Record, stating, “We’re thinking of doing something again after a bit of a sabbatical. We’d toured to excess and needed to enjoy playing again. It is going really well.” While the band has spent a lot of time touring, they are eager to return to the studio and start creating music again. Franz Ferdinand’s wildly successful self-titled debut in 2004 and its 2005 follow-up, You Could Have It So Much Better, propelled the Scottish four-piece into being one of art-rock’s most recognizable acts.
